Setting Up Your Passive Email List-Building System
The manual backloading tactics you’ve been using are extremely effective.
However, there are only so many hours in the day and only so many people that you can personally reach out to.
To continue to grow your email list, you have to be able to get new subscribers without actively prospecting for them.
You need a passive list-building system.
There are two key pieces of that system.
How to set up your passive list-building system
Most websites suck at turning their visitors into subscribers.
But there are a few easy things you can do to plug the holes in your website.
The first and easiest is the universal opt-in. (In Modules 3 and 4 we'll cover several, more advanced strategies.)
Universal opt-ins are ethical bribes that you give to the readers of your site in exchange for them opting into your list.
Remember going to the grocery store when you were a kid and getting free food samples?
The lady gave you free food in hopes that you would like it and your mom would buy the real thing.
Universal opt-ins work the same way.
When a visitor comes to your site, you offer them a free sample of content in exchange for their email address.
There are two mechanisms that you can use to do this.
- Scroll box
- Pop-up
In this lesson you’ll use your beginner's thorn hook to set both up.
